Hi-Fi / Lo-Fi
Within WatsonWyatt we are using iRise in 2 main areas:
The first is Functional specification for web apps and here we tend to use Lo-fi models, sometimes just wireframe layouts. We usually add the minimum amount of detail to settle whatever issue is up for discussion. This has proved to be very cost effective.
The other way we use iRise is to build Hi-Fi simulations for apps that we would like to build, and where we are trying to get buy in, either from internal project sponsors or external customers. We find that these folks want to see a reasonably accurate representation of what we are asking them to pay for, before they cough up the cash. This also has the benefit of allowing us to start preparing marketing and training materials much earlier in the project lifecycle.
